M3 adds a new dimension to listener interaction with radio by allowing those listeners to contribute to radio shows right from their mobiles. Utter are working with ShiftRefresh in the US to create the server software and user interface for the project
The software is an MMS server that converts audio from the standard encoding used by mobile phone to MP3 and once the file has been received (via email or GSM modem) loads it into an interface that allows for extensive metadata tagging of both track and user. Listeners can send in poems, thoughts recipes or songs direct from their phones. The project is run by Community Media Solutions and has funding from the Melt Project
